Birthday Card for my Sister

My Sister's b-day is coming up in March so I decided I'd better get busy and get her card made.  Here's the card I made and the how to's.  This is my first how to, so bear with me as I learn how to myself.

I used a pre-cut card 4"x5-1/2" and cut my patterned paper to fit.  I used my Cuttlebug and the D'vine Swirl folder to emboss the paper.  I inked the edges with Versa Mark Amethyst ink with a q-tip, then using the ink already on the q-tip i brushed over the embossing to bring it out some. Then I adhered it to the card with my Glue Glider Pro.

Then I cut a 3/4" x 4" piece of matching cardstock and trimmed it up with paper shapers scissors and inked the edges before adhering it to the card.

Next I cut another 2" x 3" piece of matching paper, rounded the corners with a corner punch, inked the edges, cut two very small slits for the 8" piece of ribbon to thread through and then tied it.

The border was stamped with Craft Smart $1 stamp from Michaels with the same ink.  I used a rubber stamp for the sentiment, Studio G clear stamp for the flower and used the same Amethyst ink and stamped the sentiment paper block we cut in the previous step.

And here's the finished product:

My Flowers

I wanted to share this page with you.  This photo is my mother at 14 or 15 years old, isn't she just beautiful.  I really like this page, the colors and the stamping and the embellies.  I made the flowers with a collection of svg files purchased from called 3D Mums & Falls Flowers.  Very easy to make and they look great.

The journaling is on the back of the page with the same photo, smaller version, in color.  I wanted to included a color version so you could see the color of her clothes.  It was a dress handmade by her sister.  My Mom and her Sister made most of their clothes.

I'm really proud of how the flowers turned out and I plan on making more!

My Prize II

Back at the beginning of the month I won a give-away from Croppin' and I just wanted to again say thanks and show you some photos of my prize.  I won items from the Little Yellow Bicycle Generation Z collection.  I haven't had a chance to use any of the items yet so I'm making the end of March my deadline to use some of these great items.  I'll post my pages when I finish them so you can see this awesome collection.

I really like the film strips and the gears border.  I think they will look fantastic on a masculine page.
Also, the alphas are so cool...silver and black...great for masculine pages.

What Happened to February?

Wow, I just realized that the month is almost over and I didn't accomplish anything I wanted to on my blog.  I want to show some scrapbook pages I've done this month and some of the flowers I've made to go on them.  And I'm sick right now with a terrible cold, so maybe March will be my month!  Take care and Happy Scrapping!
