Life Update

Wow, I had an extra minute this morning and thought I would take it to check in on my blog. I had no idea it has been 2 months since I was here last. My life has been totally put on hold with my husband's health problems.

He is still in the Veteran's Community Living Center (CLC) and unfortunately it looks like that will be his permanent home. He's been in the hospital for a total of 7+ weeks since April 15, 2010 and the rest of the time at the CLC.

I spend as much time as possible with him at the CLC and miss him the rest of the time. Whenever my life settles down I will be back with new projects and to get this blog rolling.

Thanks for listening...hope the rest of your Summer is great!

Hubby Update for June 2010

Well, it's been 8+ weeks since my husband started his long hospital visit and physical rehabilitation event.  He's doing much better and his spirits are great.  He can walk a little with assistance and he's getting stronger everyday.

We want to thank all of our family and friends for their continued prayers and support.  We couldn't do it with out you.

Many thanks to the staff, you're great!

Update on my Husband

My husband is now in the VA Community Care Center after 9 days in the ICU and 3 wks total in the hospital. We hope his rehab goes quickly and that he'll be home with us soon. All of the Staff and EMS employees have treated us with nothing but respect and kindness. It is so good to see that they are taking such great care of our Veterans. All of the care givers at the Center are so kind and patient with the Vets, they give them little hugs when they accomplish a goal and make them smile and laugh when they need it. I'm so thankful for you all!

My Husband Needs Your Prayers

Hi Everyone,  My sweet husband is in the hospital with CHF (Congestive Heart Failure).  The doctors have removed most of the excess fluid from his legs, abdomen and lungs and now he just has to recover from the rapid fluid loss.  He was shaking and having pretty severe tremors today and he's pretty weak.  Hopefully tomorrow will be better.  We need all the thoughts and prayers we can get.

I'll try to update next week, possibly sooner.  It just depends on his progress.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

April - Loving the weather

I don't know what happened to March, but April is turning out to be lovely.  We've had beautiful days with temperatures in the Mid 70's to Mid 80's, great breezes, and the windows open soaking in all the fresh air.  This is my favorite time of year.

I have some new cards to show off using an SVGCuts.com collection.  They're the best!  Anyway, I'll get some new cards and tutorials posted this week.  March was a little hectic because of my husbands illnesses, but so far this month everything is good.
I see I have a couple of new followers!  Yay and Thank You!  I'm up to a total of 3!!!  LOL  Hey, I'm working on it, slowly but surely.
My List of Things To Do Tomorrow is pretty short.

  1. The cleaning company will be here to clean the house (it needs a good cleaning)
  2. Make some phone call for work and catch up with some clients.
  3. As soon as JCPenny's call, I'll be heading there to pick up my new drapes for the  bedroom.  I'm excited to be re-decorating our room.  It's always the last room to get updated,
  4. Clean out my bedroom closet.
If I can accomplish all that, it'll be a good day!

What are you doing tomorrow?

Butterflies & Fairy

I made 4 butterflies and 1 fairy today using SVGCuts.com Breezy Meadows Butterflies and Woodland Fairies collections.  I cut the layers with my Cricut Expression, then used Glacier Glimmer Mist on all pieces, then once the GM dried, I used Tim Holtz Distressed Stickles.  I just love how they turned out!

Birthday Card for my Sister

My Sister's b-day is coming up in March so I decided I'd better get busy and get her card made.  Here's the card I made and the how to's.  This is my first how to, so bear with me as I learn how to myself.

I used a pre-cut card 4"x5-1/2" and cut my patterned paper to fit.  I used my Cuttlebug and the D'vine Swirl folder to emboss the paper.  I inked the edges with Versa Mark Amethyst ink with a q-tip, then using the ink already on the q-tip i brushed over the embossing to bring it out some. Then I adhered it to the card with my Glue Glider Pro.

Then I cut a 3/4" x 4" piece of matching cardstock and trimmed it up with paper shapers scissors and inked the edges before adhering it to the card.

Next I cut another 2" x 3" piece of matching paper, rounded the corners with a corner punch, inked the edges, cut two very small slits for the 8" piece of ribbon to thread through and then tied it.

The border was stamped with Craft Smart $1 stamp from Michaels with the same ink.  I used a rubber stamp for the sentiment, Studio G clear stamp for the flower and used the same Amethyst ink and stamped the sentiment paper block we cut in the previous step.

And here's the finished product:

My Flowers

I wanted to share this page with you.  This photo is my mother at 14 or 15 years old, isn't she just beautiful.  I really like this page, the colors and the stamping and the embellies.  I made the flowers with a collection of svg files purchased from SVGCuts.com called 3D Mums & Falls Flowers.  Very easy to make and they look great.

The journaling is on the back of the page with the same photo, smaller version, in color.  I wanted to included a color version so you could see the color of her clothes.  It was a dress handmade by her sister.  My Mom and her Sister made most of their clothes.

I'm really proud of how the flowers turned out and I plan on making more!

My Prize II

Back at the beginning of the month I won a give-away from Croppin' Paradise.com and I just wanted to again say thanks and show you some photos of my prize.  I won items from the Little Yellow Bicycle Generation Z collection.  I haven't had a chance to use any of the items yet so I'm making the end of March my deadline to use some of these great items.  I'll post my pages when I finish them so you can see this awesome collection.

I really like the film strips and the gears border.  I think they will look fantastic on a masculine page.
Also, the alphas are so cool...silver and black...great for masculine pages.

What Happened to February?

Wow, I just realized that the month is almost over and I didn't accomplish anything I wanted to on my blog.  I want to show some scrapbook pages I've done this month and some of the flowers I've made to go on them.  And I'm sick right now with a terrible cold, so maybe March will be my month!  Take care and Happy Scrapping!

It's Already The End of January

I can't believe it's the end of the month already. 2010 and the first month is almost over..where did it go? I've actually managed to scrap a few photos and make 1 card! I'm such a slow scrapper..it takes me forever to decide on my design. I get stuck on the papers. Really need to work on that! Maybe that will be my February goal.

Well, I'm not doing too great on my New Year's Resolutions. I have managed to lose a couple pounds, not as much as I wanted, but I guess a couple is better than gaining. I did manage to work on my office/scraproom a little this month. I purchased a new desk and added a few shelves, so a little progress there. And we did manage to save a little money this month. So putting it in writing I realize I didn't do too bad after all! Yay for me!!

Here's to February being a better weight loss month!

I just checked out the Generation Z collection and it's awesome! I really like the paper collection, but I think my favorite has to be the Clear Cuts Film Strips. They are great embellishments to make your page stand out from the rest! They are definitely going on my wish list!

I can't  believe it...I won a $60 give-away on Croppin' Paradises' blog!    Thanks so much to Croppin' Paradise!!!

Another Lazy Day

Well it's Sunday evening and I haven't accomplished much this weekend.  I finished a scrapbook page on Friday evening, but Saturday and today, nothing.  I really wanted to finish a page each day but I spent it instead watching tv with my Husband and thoroughly enjoying every minute!  So I guess I shouldn't say I haven't accomplished anything....I've spent my time wisely!  Hope everyone had a great weekend...I did!

I am so glad that I found this site.  It has made my Cricut Expression even more productive and more economical.  I can now cut amazing die cuts, shapes, fonts, you name it without purchasing another expensive cartridge.  They are not affiliated with Cricut/Provo Craft but their software is fantastic.  Download the trial version to find out what all the fuss is about!
